Wireless Environment makes LED lights with controls such as motion sensors, radio frequency (RF) and battery back-up to increase user control options and to create energy-saving lighting systems. With Wireless' technology, an individual, energy efficient light bulb or a system of bulbs perform according to the needs of the users and environment. Wireless has also developed and launched a line of battery-powered LED light fixtures (like our LED wireless remote lights, battery night light and LED remote spotlight) that improve safety and security. These products use Wireless' patent-pending power management system and have RF capabilities to network throughout the home.
The company received a JumpStart investment in December 2008.

Vadxx Energy is based in Northeast Ohio and produces synthetic crude oil via a process called thermal depolymerization. The company is proceeding with its first commercial plant in Akron, Ohio in partnership with Greeenstar Recycling to convert municipal plastics that are currently going to landfill or overseas into much higher value synthetic crude oil. The Vadxx/Greenstar joint venture will become operational during the second half of 2012. Two additional commercial plants, converting medical waste and scrap tire into synthetic crude oil, are in the planning stages and targeted to begin operations in Cleveland, Ohio in 2013.
ThermElectricity develops green energy solutions to convert otherwise wasted heat into electrical energy. The company's shape memory alloy energy harvesting device uses the expansion and contraction of specialized metal alloys to harvest energy from temperature fluctuations as low as 10 degrees Celsius. The device has applications in a wide range industrial facilities that produce heat as part of a manufacturing process. ThermElectricity received an Innovation Fund grant in February 2013 and will use the funding to quantify the cost-to-energy ratio its technology can achieve.
Skysun LLC's patent pending methodology of ganged heliostat arrays substantially decreases solar power generation cost and complexity. Increased economic efficiency will create a competitive advantage in the Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) market. The heart of Skysun's intellectual property is an optical method to eliminate the astigmatism common to high incidence solar thermal systems, allowing Skysun's heliostats to be used in power tower systems.
The company received an Innovation Fund award in May 2013.
Rapid Charge Technologies (RCT) is developing and commercializing rapid charging technology for lead acid and lithium batteries that is based on patented technology created and tested at the University of Georgia Technology. The company's technology holds the promise of allowing lead acid and lithium batteries to be charged in minutes, not hours, and dramatically extending battery life.
Paragon Robotics is a manufacturer of wireless data acquisition and control products that improve the energy efficiency of buildings and processes.
The company received a $100,000 Innovation Fund award in May 2014.

Octet Scientific, Inc. was founded in 2017 to address an unmet need for support chemistry in the Zinc Battery industry. Zinc is a very attractive energy metal because it is safe, cheap, plentiful, recyclable and green, but several complications centered around recharging have slowed the emergence of this technology into markets like grid storage, stationary power, electric vehicles, and portable devices. Observing that recharging is the problematic bottleneck for zinc, Octet is applying its expertise designing and producing electrolyte additives, chemical designed to control recharging, to help bring zinc batteries to these markets. A recent recipient of an SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation, Octet is now partnering with Zinc Battery manufacturers of various chemistries to develop value-adding chemicals to improve efficiency, cycle life, safety, and ease of operation for next-generation Zinc Batteries.

Our mission is to provide useful information to our customers through the dispatch of long endurance unmanned aerial vehicles at affordable prices.
There are many types and sizes of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), which are also known as drones. Types of vehicles include quad copters, small hand thrown fixed-wing planes, medium sized vehicles that can be catapult launched or take off from short run ways or very large vehicles that can fly around the world conducting recognizance missions and launching missiles.
One of the main challenges for UAV operators is flight duration. Typical UAVs use batteries or internal combustion engines for propulsion. Batteries are extremely heavy for driving propellers with electric motors, and internal combustion engines are very inefficient at converting aviation fuels to drive propellers mechanically thus limiting flight duration.
A more efficient propulsion system is one that uses hydrogen fuel that is light weight and an energy efficient fuel cell to convert the hydrogen into electricity to drive the electric motors. NEOEx Systems was founded to provide UAV data collection services for customers using a UAV platform powered by fuel cells and liquid hydrogen. Using the liquid hydrogen as a fuel is unique and will extend the duration up to 72 hours of continuous operation without refueling.
NEOEx is already under contract to develop and demonstrate a gaseous hydrogen fueled prototype of this platform this year for the National Weather Service under a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I activity with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The SBIR Phase II effort will be to fly with liquid hydrogen.
Our Advanced Floating Turbine (AFT) is designed to minimize costs and withstand the offshore conditions. Develops High Wind Sites Near Population Centers Will Drive Rapid Growth in Offshore Wind Energy

Intwine Connect, LLC is an independent company that develops hardware, software and services for monitoring, management and utilization of business-‐critical performance data. The company’s mission is to be the best at collaborating with customers to provide an end-to-end solution that connects machines to businesses and end users via user-friendly, real‐time, two‐way communications.
Founded in 2008 and based in the Cleveland suburb of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Intwine Connect focuses on the connected home and building.
The company’s primary product is its Intwine Connected Gateway (ICG), which provides both lower-‐level, physical-‐layer gateway functionality and upper-level protocol translation functionality for the Cloud, “Internet of Things” (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications. The gateway, combined with proprietary software and user-‐defined interfaces, is the technology backbone that enables customers to connect proprietary and standard monitoring and measuring devices to create “the connected home, factory, warehouse, etc” in an “ecosystem” of third-party devices that have not previously been connected. The company seeks to deliver real-world, mass-deployable solutions.
Intwine Connect received a $100,000 Innovation Fund B Award in August 2014.
